The Malaysia Ringgit (RM) is issued in notes of denominations of RM 100, RM 50, RM 20, RM 10, RM 5, RM 2, and RM 1. There are coins of 50, 20, 10 and 5 cent. Credit cards are popular; VISA, Master Card, American Express and Diners Club are well established in all urban centers.

Banking hours (except for states of Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu)
Monday - Friday 9.30 am – 4.00 pm

In Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, bank are closed on Friday and operate from 9.30 am to 11.30 am on Thursday.

All commercial banks are authorized foreign exchange dealers, and licensed money changers are found in urban centers, key entry/exit points and found in urban centers, key entry/exit points and shopping complexes.

Foreign currency and travelers' cheque can also be exchanged at major hotel for nominal fee.
